Think you know your mobile phone like the back of your hand? Think again. From maximizing your battery lifespan to keeping your data usage in check, we’ve got you covered. Keep reading to equip yourself with some really cool tips!

Improve your phone’s signal with airplane mode

Don’t you just hate it when your data weakens as you pass through a tunnel or highway?

Here’s a trick - put your phone on airplane mode for a short while and turn it off. This allows your phone to automatically connect to the strongest signal available in the vicinity.

Set downloads to “Wi-Fi Only” to minimise your data usage

Heads-up if you use apps like Spotify, Viu, and Netflix.

If your monthly struggle is staying within your data limit, check your apps and ensure that downloads only occur when you’re connected to Wi-Fi.

Of course, if you’d much rather live without restrictions, changing to a cost-efficient telecom operator is another option. There are a number of operators in Singapore but if you want something with no strings attached, TPG Mobile is for you.

Here's what $10 can get you: 50GB data, 1GB roaming data to selected countries, 300 minutes for local calls and 30 local SMS for a month. But wait, there’s more. Share this deal with your friends and be rewarded!

Turn off vibration function to save battery

Fun fact: Whether your phone is on silent mode or not, additional battery is required to vibrate whenever you get a notification or a phone call. Turn down the volume and let your phone ring freely for a longer battery lifespan.

Make long charging cables manageable by coiling them

For those with cables too long for comfort, wrap them around a thick marker and use a hair dryer on low heat to keep it in place. Your cables should end up looking like a spiral cord, as seen in the image above.

Add a keyboard shortcut or text replacement for addresses

Typing out addresses or email addresses on your phone can get tedious, especially when time is not on your side, and your fingers are not cooperative. Fret not, we’ve just the solution for you. If you use an iPhone, all you need to do is go to your phone settings > Keyboards > Text Replacement and create your own shortcuts. Android users, you're not forgotten.
